2011 Elite Team

The Roadrunner Sports Club is a community-based youth sports organization.  Run solely by volunteers, its mission is to develop the strength of mind, spirit, body, and character of children in the community through an afterschool sports program for youth six to 18 years old. The Club’s primary objective is to improve the quality of life of youth through sports and academics while providing positive leadership and vision to the East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park communities. Though founded in 2007, the Roadrunner Sports Club is built on a foundation laid over the last 30 years. Founder Aaron Johnson used the sport of basketball to teach hundreds of youth in the East Menlo Park and East Palo Alto communities important life skills. Many alumni are now contributing to the success of the Club as board members, coaches and sponsors. The tradition is filled with great accomplishments at the local and national level.  We look to continue the tradition for many years to come!

Boys BB Roundatable

Douglas Benton/Steve Hu

Who has surprised you this spring?
Cole Lockwood is another 2014 prospect who impresses with his scoring ability and its methods. At 6-foot-0, the Santa Clara product averaged over 13 points this past season and looks to build on that. He runs with his Roadrunners club and runs the team even though he is a prolific scorer. Lockwood will probably be a point guard on the college level unless he can add a few inches in height.

Nor Cal Showcase Write Ups

April 30th, 2012 by admin

April 29, 2012

Khalid Johnson 5-foot-9 PG St Francis (2013) Roadrunners 17: Johnson is an undersized point guard but makes up for that with his quickness and passing. He takes the ball to the paint well and makes good decisions in setting up teammates. Portland and Portland State have been in contact.

Cole Lockwood 6-foot-0 SG Santa Clara (2014) Roadrunners 16: Lockwood is a multi-varied scorer. He has enough size to take the ball to the basket and initiate contact. At the same time, he is comfortable pulling back and taking the perimeter jumper. He averaged double digits in leading Santa Clara High to a 20-win season.

April 30, 2012

Khalil James 5-foot-9 PG Sacred Heart Cathedral (2013) Roadrunners 17: James has quickness and is fearless going to the paint despite his size. He uses ball fakes well and has a respectable perimeter shot. Per Roadrunners Coach Curtis Haggins, UC Riverside and Washington State have expressed interest.

CJ Patterson 6-foot-5 F Palo Alto (2014) Roadrunners 17: Patterson has good size and bulk to play the post. His projection at which position will depend on how tall he is or how much he develops his perimeter game. Right now, his offensive game trails his defense and rebounding. He has good bloodlines, as his mother, Trina Patterson, is assistant women’s basketball coach at Stanford.
